Map of New South Wales Rainfalls in 19thC c1886

by Garran, Andrew

New South Wales average rainfalls antique map c1886. The Diameters of Red Spots are proportional to the amount of Rain. The Average Annual Rainfall shown in inches within each spot. (Inset of southern portion of New South Wales)

This original map by D. Macdonald, C.E., M.G.S.A. was published for the most comprehensively illustrated historical and descriptive publication on Australia and the neighbouring islands, Picturesque Atlas of Australasia, published between 1886 and 1888 by the Picturesque Atlas Publishing Company to commemorate 100 years of settlement in Australia.

The size of this map with vertical fold, as issued, is 43 x 64cm (approximately 17 x 25.25 inches). The map has wide borders, but unfortunately our scanner is not large enough to show these. We have three different size scans to provide high resolution detail of the map. Please email sales@antiqueprintclub.com if you would like to see them. There is a watermark spot in the lower right corner at the extremity of the page, and slight creasing at base of page outside map area. Otherwise it is a remarkably clean map, considering its age.
