Finely detailed map of the Islands in the Pacific, and stretching from Tartary and the islands of Japan and the Eleutian Isle, across to the complete length of the continent of the Americas.

Original map engraved on copper by J. & C. Walker with updates circa 1884. Published in London by Charles Knight & Co. 22 Ludgate Street, under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Engravers, draughtsmen and publishers John Walker, Alexander Walker, and Charles Walker (known as J. & C. Walker) flourished from 1820-1895, publishing their “Royal Atlas” with several reissues, and engraved many maps and charts for the British Admiralty. They are best known for their work in conjunction with the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (usually referred to as SDUK).
