Antique map Queensland, colour-printed counties c1886, by A.J.Scally.

Original antique map by AJ Scally, printed in colour with districts and counties well-differentiated, mountains, rivers and railways (both operational and proposed) shown, and the Great Barrier Reef and Arafura Sea outlined with the notation ‘Boundary of Colony’. The map extends to New Guinea in the north, Lake Torrens in South Australia, and just south of Hastings River and Port Macquarie in New South Wales. Published in 1888 by The Picturesque Atlas Publishing Company Limited, Sydney & Melbourne for The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia to commemorate one hundred years since First Fleet settlement at Sydney Cove.

The reverse of the two pages of this map has an alphabetical Index to the places listed on the map.

As this is a large double page map, size 64 x 43cm with map border measuring 61 x 37cm, this map has a central horizontal fold which was glued into the binding (the fold has been reinforced with conservation repair tape). The map is in good condition, with colour slightly faded. There is the usual age discolouration at the page edges.
