Large original antique map of Australia circa 1888. (Northern Territory did not become a separate entity until 1911.)

This original map of Victoria-era Australia, was published for a most comprehensively illustrated historical and descriptive publication on Australia and the Pacific. Picturesque Atlas of Australasia, edited by the Honourable Andrew Garran, was published between 1886 and 1888 by The Picturesque Atlas Publishing Company, an American Company set up in Australia specifically for this publication which commemorated 100 years of settlement in Australia, since the establishment of the British colony at Port Jackson, Sydney in 1788.

The size of this map with central vertical fold, as issued, is 44 x 66cm (17.5 x 26 inches).  The map has wide borders, but unfortunately our scanner is not large enough to show these. If you would like further images, please email us at sales@antiqueprintclub.com
