Finely detailed French antique map of South America. This beautifully engraved French map was drawn by Giraldon, engraved by Chamouin of Rue de la Harpe, and published in Paris in 1809 by Pierre Lapie (1779-1850), First Geographer to the King of France. This is a great map with the lower right cartouche (title piece) depicting vegetation-surrounded mountain and erupting volcano with vegetation at their base.

The map is on thick good quality paper, with wide margins around the map. To map border measures 285 x 215mm (11 x 8 3/8 inches). Page size is 340 x 275mm (13 3/8 x 10 7/8 inches).
