Charles Smith (1800-1852) was an engraver, publisher and map seller. This elegant map was published circa 1837 for his "A New General Atlas". This popular atlas was first published in 1816. Charles Smith maps were renowned for their fine geographical detail, high quality paper, and excellent hand-colour.

This map measures approximately 10.5 x 14 inches (27 x 36cm ) to border, with wide margins to edge of page, as published.
