Interesting antique map of Africa published in Paris circa 1838 by cartographer Charles François Beautemps-Beaupré (1766-1854). Beaupre was a naval hydrographic engineer at the Hydrographic Institute in Paris. This finely detailed map was engraved by J.D. Lale and published by Edouard Hocquart.

The vertical centre fold of this map is rather worn, but is still attached to the original publication paper. Slight damage at top centre extremity, and a little soiling mainly in the margins. To the engraved border, this map measures 280 x 380 mm (11 x 15 inches). Page size is 315 x 410mm (12.5 x 16 inches).
