One of the most popular and mysterious goddesses of the Roman pantheon, Vesta (Greek, Hestia) is the goddess of the hearth and home, and was attended by vestal virgins. Vesta was worshipped by some as the goddess of fire: August under the protection of Ceres.

This is a reproduction from a finely detailed and engraved copperplate, the twelve panels depict ancient mythical gods who were assumed to be the protectors of each month. Originally published in Paris circa 1750.
