A superb antique map of the Chinese Empire with Japan published in Venice circa 1784 by Antonio Zatta.

Original copperplate-engraved map with distinctive contemporary colour circa 1784 for Atlante novissimo published between 1775 and 1789 by Venetian cartographer and publisher Antonio Zatta who flourished as a map-maker between 1775 and 1797.

Engraved on hand-made paper. In fine condition with good borders, as published, the measurement to the plate mark is 330 x 420mm (13 x 16.5 inches). This map is currently mounted in antique white conservation mattboard, so does not show the full size of the paper.
