A quiet country manor house of La Poissonniere (literally translated as the Female Fishmonger (fish-seller). La Poissonniere (near the village of Couture in the Department of Loir et Cher), gained recognition as the place where the poet Pierre de Ronsard was born in 1524. Ronsard died in Tours in 1585. During his life he became known in France as "the prince of poets".
