Intricately designed decoration and relief for a wall.
Fine (hand-coloured) engraving circa 1864, published in Liege by Charles Claesen circa 1870, from a series of beautiful architectural designs by Strasbourg architect and artist, Wendel Dietterlin the Elder (1550-1599), for his influential Architectura (Book of Architecture) published in Nuremberg circa 1598-1599. Dietterlin’s designs for doors, windows and all styles of architectural ornament had significant influence on architects and builders in Europe in the centuries that followed.
