Tallis map of New South Wales (as it was then known) - north to Hervey Bay on the central Queensland coast. As Separation was not until 1859, this map is the only one in the series that shows Queensland - as far north as settlement had reached by the date of publication.
The most decorative map ever published on New South Wales and Queensland, it has been reproduced from a finely-engraved and-coloured map originally published for Tallis's General Atlas circa 1851-3. The publishing firm of Tallis flourished from 1835 to 1860, and were renowned for their fine steel-engraved maps and prints. Tallis maps were among the last decorative maps published. All their maps were adorned by decorative borders and vignettes of cities, native fauna or people of the region. This lovely map was printed in colour. Map size: 28 x 36 cm (14 x 11 inches). Price: $13.20 (AUD) inc GST |
