Reproduction from a hand-coloured copperplate engraving by the English
naturalist Henry Charles Andrews for “The Botanist’s Repository,
comprising colour’d engravings of new and rare plants only” published in
London between 1797 and 1815.
Andrews drew, engraved and coloured 664 botanical specimens for this ground-breaking work. Most of the illustrated botanical specimens were quite different from any previously seen in Britain. They included many species from Australia and South Africa. The image does not do justice to the image of this finely engraved work. Image size is approximately 26 x 20cm.
