GdBT The Prologue or The Comedy at the Chateau. (Grand Entrance)
Original 1920s pochoir fashion plate by Pierre Brissaud (1885-1964), for La Gazette du Bon Ton (Journal of Good Style), illustrating the latest superior styles. Pochoir (French for stencil), coloured by gouache and watercolour, with different stencils of zinc for each colour, by the finest illustrators of the day, showed fashions by prominent French designers, for Gazette du Bon Ton (the periodical for the well-to-do), published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925 (with a break during World War I) and distributed by Condé Nast. Distributed in the U.S. as Gazette du Bon Genre, both titles translate roughly as Journal of the Good Style. Using the distinctive pochoir style, Parisan's couturier's latest fashions are worn, frequently shown in appropriate settings. Size of page 24 x 19cm or 9.1/2" x 7.1/2" Price: $275.00 (AUD) inc GST |
