Robe du Soir (Evening Gown) designed by Paul Poiret.
Original pochoir by André-E. Marty (1882-1974), published in Paris in 1921 for La Gazette du Bon Ton, a periodical illustrating superior styles and occasions for the wealthy in Paris. Original pochoir (French for stencil) coloured by gouache and watercolour, with different stencils of zinc for each colour. By the finest illustrators of the day, these delightful fashion plates elegantly posed in appropriate situations, showed the latest superior designs by prominent French designers, for Gazette du Bon Ton (the periodical for the well-to-do), published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925 (with a break during World War I) and distributed by Condé Nast.
