North America Antique Map. Findlay-Tegg, c1853.

Original map engraved on steel, with contemporary colour, by well-known mapmaker Alexander Findlay for his “Modern Atlas” published in London circa 1853 by William Tegg & Co.

This is obviously from a well-loved publication! Although there are blobs of Indian ink on the reverse, they do not show through. There is also some slight soiling on front, and the top left corner is slightly bent, with an archivally repaired marginal tear. None of the previous detracts from the appearance. It is still a decorative map.
