Hennig for “Icthyologie, ou Histoire Naturelle Generale et Particulere des Poissons” (Icthyology, or General and Specific Natural History of Fish") published in Germany between 1785 and 1797 by Marcus Elieser Bloch (1723-1799).Considered to be one of the finest publications ever published on fish, the detail on the original engravings was quite remarkable, with some scales highlighted in gold and silver leaf.
