Fish Antique Print. Barracuda and Angler-Fish. Antique Print c1894
Original (hand-coloured) wood engraving first engraved for the zoological encyclopedia Illustrirtes Tierleben by Alfred Edmund Brehm (1829-1884) in Leipzig between 1864 and 1869, and republished in Austria circa 1896 as Brehm’s Tierleben (Life of Animals). This antique print was published circa 1894 by Frederick Warne and Company of London & New York for the English edition “The Royal Natural History” by Richard Lydekker B.A., F.G.S., F.Z.S., Etc. (sic.). This lovely engraving has a lined background, that is not as prominent as in this scanned image. This engraving is mounted in 50mm wide archival board and covered with cellophane for protection. The actual image measures 140 x.140mm (3 3/4" x 5 3/4"). Price: $38.50 (AUD) inc GST |
