Hand-coloured reproduction from an important and rarely seen copperplate-engraved map by Giovanni Maria Cassini, who flourished as a mapmaker between 1776 and 1884.  Incorporating Captain Cook’s charting of the east coast of Australia, it was originally published in Rome circa 1801 by Calografia Camerale, for Cassini’s atlas, Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale.

This superb reproduction is one of only 500 printed. As it has been hand-tinted with watercolour, colouring may vary slightly from the illustration. It is also available black and white as printed (Italian map of Australia, listed under Heritage Prints).
