Original (hand-coloured) copperplate engraving by eminent Scottish engraver William Home Lizars after a drawing by Scottish naturalist Captain Thomas Brown, F.L.S. (1785-1862), for Brown’s “Illustrations of the Land and Fresh Water Conchology of Great Britain and Ireland, drawn and coloured from nature”, published in London and Edinburgh circa 1845.
