Bivalve Shells, Les Coquillages Univalves antique print, c1742.

Rare original copperplate engraving for R. P. Labat's "New Voyages to the Islands of America", published in Paris by Theodore Le Gras, circa 1742 (with fine later hand-colour). This engraving has a vertical fold (very faintly discernable) to accommodate its inclusion in a small eighteenth century travel book with the latest information about discoveries in America.
