Wonderful Brodtmann antique print of Seals c1827.

Original hand-colored lithograph by lithographer, printer and bookseller, Karl Joseph Brodtmann (1787-1862) for his Naturhistorische Bilder-Gallerie aus dem Thierreiche (Natural History Gallery of the Animal Kingdom).

Brodtmann excelled in his finely detailed, accurately drawn, sympathetic illustrations of animals. He was born in Germany but moved to Switzerland, where he worked in Zurich and Schaffhausen. Brodtmann was a superb lithographer with a distinctive style and the ability to depict the finer qualities of the animals he portrayed.

This antique engraving is in fine condition. Size is approximately 32.5 x 23cm (12.7/8 inches x 9 inches)
