Antique print of Fort Macquarie, Sydney Harbour c1886. The square castellated battlement fort was built on the east side of Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour - where the Sydney Opera House now stands.

Original wood engraving after a sketch by Julian Rossi Ashton for Picturesque Atlas of Australasia published in Sydney circa 1886. J.R. Ashton was important in promoting artist recognition and appreciation in the early colony. The art school he established in Sydney is still in existence today.

This lovely engraving has later hand colour and is mounted between 'antique white' archival matt board, and covered with cellophane for presentation and protection. Size of engraving is 3 x 7 inches or 8 x 18cm. Actual mounted size is 8 x 12 inches or 20 x 30cm
