Original sepia colour-printed lithograph printed by A. Hoen & Co. lithographers of Baltimore, after the sketch by A.H. Campbell - showing an expansive vista to surrounding hills, with people on the hill in the foreground, looking down to the valley with the tent encampment of the 1853-1854 expedition of the United States Pacific Railroad Survey of the 32nd parallel in California, under the command of Lieutenant R.S. Williamson.

Page has been slightly trimmed but image still have adequate margin for framing. Page now measures8 1/4 inches x 11 inches (21 x 28 cm). Image approximately 6 x 9 inches (15 x 23 cm). This page has slight age-discolouration around the edges, slight creasing at lower right corner, and very faint soiling marks.
