Fine original steel engraving by one of foremost English topographical artists and engravers James Charles Armytage (1802-1897) from a drawing on the spot by top illustrator of topography, William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854), for "The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain", by William Finden (1787-1852), and Edward Finden (1791-1857). London: Published for the Proprietors by George Virtue circa 1840.

The page is slightly age-discoloured, but the beautiful later later hand-colour distracts from the condition. Price has nevertheless been reduced. Approximate measurement: image, 123 x 185mm (4.7/8 x 7.1/2 inches), and page, 207 x 274mm (8.1/8 x 10.3/4 inches).
