Tahiti. A Young Woman of Otaheite - Bringing Present, Dancing. c1780

by Cook, Captain James

Antique Print of Habit of A YOUNG WOMAN of OTAHEITE bringing a PRESENT & Habit of A YOUNG WOMAN of OTAHEITE Dancing..

Wonderful original copperplate engraving by Noble after the drawing by the Admiralty-appointed official artist on the voyage of Captain Cook, John Webber (1751-1793). This engraving is part of a series of 78 plates, based on Webber's drawings to include indigenous people, artifacts and views, in Hawkesworth’s Complete History of Captain Cook's First, Second and Third Voyages published in London circa 1780 by Alexander Hogg.

Page measures 230 x 380mm (9 x 15 inches). The title at the base has been slightly clipped , and there is slight damage to the extremities of the page, with small remnants of early cellotape repairs and reinforcement. Otherwise this wonderful engraving is in good condition with borders as published.
