Interesting original sepia-colour-printed lithograph from a drawing by A.H. Campbell, for the General Report Plate 5 of the United States Expedition and Surveys of the 32nd parallel of California, published in Washington c1857. This view was recorded during the 1853-1854 expedition of the United States Pacific Railroad Survey. Under the direction of the Secretary of War to find the most practicable and economical route for a railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, and under the command of Lieutenant R.S. Williamson, this survey through the 32nd parallel and California was of the most practical route for the railroad through California.

Unfortunately this prime historic view of Phoenix, Arizona has had page trimmed. but image still has adequate margin for framing: 8 1/4 inches x 11 inches (21 x 28 cm). Image is approximately 6 x 9 inches (15 x 23 cm). This page is slightly soiled, and is very slightly bent at lower left corner.
