Antique print of an early view of the South End of the S. Inez Mountains & S. Buenaventure Valley c1855.

General Report Plate 2 of the United States Expedition and Surveys of the 32nd parallel of California, published in Washington c1857, this lovely original sepia-colour-printed lithograph by A. Hoen & Co. lithographers of Baltimore, was from the sketch by A.H. Campbell. This is an important topographical record of a historic view made during the 1853-1854 expedition of the United States Pacific Railroad Survey. Under the direction of the Secretary of War to find the most practicable and economical route for a railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, and under the command of Lieutenant R.S. Williamson, this survey through the 32nd parallel and California was of the most practical route for the railroad through California.
