Antique print. Beautiful rare double-page 1914 fashion plate by Pierre Brissaud for La Gazette du Bon Ton (Gazette of Good Style). Original hand-coloured pochoir by Pierre Brissaud (1885-1964) for the exclusive periodical for the well-to-do. Brissaud excelled in presenting a fashion narrative of the latest superior fashions - together with a humorous caption below.

Pochoir, the French word for stencil, was the labour-intensive method of illustration bycutting a separate stencil for each successive application of watercolour, to build up the beautiful tones and nuance of the image. The finest illustrators of the day introduced the latest exclusive fashions in Gazette du Bon Ton, published by Lucien Vogel in Paris between 1912 and 1925.
