Kannen Griechische Keramik. Stunning Greek Pottery lithograph Plate 2 c1883.
by Genick, Albert
Greek Ceramic Jugs. Chromolithograph c1833 of full-size Greek pottery.
This is one of two superb original lithographs of Athenian red-figure pottery, portrayed by the German architect Albert Genick (1837-1906), who became one of the leading authorities on Greek ceramics. This fabulous colour-printed lithograph of Greek ceramics was published in Tubingen, southern Germany, by Ernst Wasmuth. Wasmuth started in business as a seller of books on architecture. In 1872 he began publishing finely illustrated books on architecture, archaeology, art and design.
As you can imagine, the larger works are always more sought after. This beautiful rare lithograph is in fine condition. The small uncoloured diagrams of special pottery features compliment the design and highlight the clarity of the images. This pair of lithographs would be a fantastic focal point in any room.. traditional or modern.
