Antique print of Cherubs at work and play. Plate 2, c1757. This is one of a charming series of small 18th century engravings of putti.. or as some like to call them, angels with wings.
Original mezzotint engraved on copper by R. Pozzi after a drawing by Francesco Lavega for the most important eighteenth century archaeological work, documenting excavations at Pompeii, Ercolano (Herculaneum and Stabiae). Published in Naples circa 1757-1792 with patronage of King Charles 11. Later hand-color.
This small image has been mounted in conservation board, and covered with cellophane for protection. Approximate size is 29 x 34cm (11.5 x 13.5 inches) Engraved print window size is 5.5 x 7.5 inches or 14 x 19cm
