Superb original lithograph of the Chateau de Dampierre, Canton sud de Saumur - built around 1460 by Francois de la Vignolles, and lived in by Marguerite d'Anjou who as wife of King Henry VI was Queen of England.

One of the finest illustrations of a beautiful chateau, this original lithograph was printed in two tones circa 1861 by Victor Petit (1820-1874) for “Chateaux de la Vallée de la Loire”. If you are looking for a pair of fine French architectural images, you could not do better than this and the previous one of the Chateau de Brissac.
