Original colour-printed lithograph by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son, after an 1874 oil painting by Sheldon Williams for Samuel Sidney’s The Book of the Horse printed by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co of London, Paris and New York circa 1874.

At the end of the 19th, the quality of chromolithographic illustrations was exceptional. Many of the colour-printed lithographs for Cassells Book of the Horse were finished with hand-colour and highlighting. They are some of the finest horse illustrations ever done.

This original lithograph is in fine condition. The image measures approximately 17 x 22cm (6 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches). Page size is 21 x 27cm (8 ¼ x 10 5/8 inches).
