With The Island of Sardinia in an inset and Italy to the north and west of the Gulf of Genoa, this is a superb antique map with contemporary hand-colour (evidenced by oxidation of the colour through to the rear of the map).

Fine original hand-coloured copperplate-engraved map by Thomas Conder, published circa 1794 by Robert Wilkinson for his General Atlas. Wilkinson flourished as a map-maker between 1785 and 1825, and was renowned for the decorativeness and quality of his maps.

The paper is slightly discoloured and foxed, due to the age. It has good wide borders, as published.
The page size as published is 340 x 268mm (12" x 9.1/2"). To the intaglio plate mark it measures 304 x 293mm.
