Original map engraved on steel, with contemporary colour, by well-known hydrographer and mapmaker Alexander Findlay for his Modern Atlas published in London circa 1853 by William Tegg & Co.

This is obviously from a well-loved publication. Although there are Indian ink marks on the reverse, they do not show through. There is also some slight soiling on front, and top left corner is slightly bent, with an archivally repaired marginal tear. None of the previous detracts from the appearance. It is a finely detailed and decorative map.
