This is the fifth year "Punch, or the London Charivari" was published. The title of this famous series was later changed to "Punch". Bradbury and Evans took over printing of the publication in 1842, when the first edition was not financially viable - having been set up with capital of 25 pounds. Full of witty and irreverant sketches commenting on the times, Punch became such a successful and popular social commentary, that it was published continuously until 2002. Well illustrated throughout with black and white engravings, many of full page size, from sketches by eminent cartoonists.
