Stylish ambience of antique artwork

Improve the ambience of your environment. Enjoy your artwork! Antique prints offer an enormous selection of subjects, styles and sizes... and work well in groups for added interest. Artwork imbues a home with your own personality. Most houses are designed by architects with little or no input from the people who later live in them. Artwork adds to the ambience. Changing your pictures can change the mood of an area. It’s also much less effort and more fun than painting!

Most people live with at least one picture that they do not enjoy. If you chose the artwork because you liked it, you could find that having it framed differently will make you love it all over again. If you like the frame, perhaps it might be better on something else. Frames can be cut down, and mounts (the board surrounding the artwork) can be easily changed – perhaps to another colour or with fine decoration to set off the artwork. There is no right or wrong style of framing presentation. Just make sure it is framed so that you can enjoy it.

Shop around until you find a picture framer whose work you like, who you can talk to, and who listens to you. Take along a couple of pics from magazines or phone images to show them what style you like – or if it is to hang in a special place, a phone pic, measurements, or sketch of the space and furniture, including other artwork if any nearby. If you want your artwork to continue looking good over the years, pay that little extra to have it framed with conservation material so that the framing materials stay looking as good as the day the framing was completed. U/V glass is also available to block ultraviolet rays and protect your artwork from fading.

Artwork establishes a home as your own and represents the style of the occupants. Most houses are designed by architects with little or no input from the people who later live in them. Let the artwork on the wall add to the ambience. Changing your pictures can change the whole mood of an area. It’s also much less effort and more fun than painting!

The importance of artwork cannot be overestimated. It really personalizes your living spaces. Surround yourself with things you enjoy. The easiest way for an artwork makeover is to take your pictures off the wall. Place them around the house against the wall or furniture on the floor. This is the best way to work out the spacing. Once you have established where you want to hang the ones you like best, where you can enjoy them the most, continue in order of preference until you come to ones you do not like. While all styles of art can be grouped together, try them in different combinations. They will look quite different. Consider trying them in different rooms from previously, to appreciate them anew. Don’t be overwhelmed by trying to make all your decisions at once. Walk away from them, then return to consider them afresh.

Tryouts on the floor are much easier than having to move them after hanging. If you are a perfectionist you could try cutting paper to the sizes and trying different layouts on the wall with blue tak. If you find grouping or hanging difficult, there are some very good professional picture hangers: ask local art dealers and picture framers for the names of the best ones. Rehanging your artwork may seem daunting at first, but it is worth the angst. It will not only make the room look better, you’ll find that after you have moved your pictures you will notice them afresh and enjoy them more.

If you do not intend to keep artwork for more than a couple of years, there are many prints that look good without being expensive. Heritage Editions prints and maps are available online from $10 to $100. Antique Print Club also has an enormous selection of original antique prints and antique maps. Original antique prints and maps can cost as little as $15 or as much as $5,000. There’s a huge selection of subjects, styles and sizes. There are only a few thousand on this website, so please let us know if you want a particular subject - or mood, so that we can gather them together for you to select from. We have selected a few groups, but there are many more. Your imagination is the limitation..

Before discarding previous artwork, have a good look at the framing. Perhaps you could find alternative artwork for a frame you love. Take it with you on your search. It is easier for you, the art seller, and the picture framer, to make a good decision – and save you a lot of money in the process. If you are selling a property and potential buyers like your artwork, you can always use the artwork as a buying incentive: include the artwork in the price. You can have the fun of finding new pictures when you move!
These are just a few examples of our antique prints. There are thousands of items on our website, and many more thousands not there yet. We are happy to help you search. Please email sales@antiqueprintclub.com or phone +61(0)412 44 22 83 if you need help.
